Answers to the questions we hear most about FFL transfers, NFA items, and picking up firearms at Gallenson’s Guns in Salt Lake City. Full transfer details are on our Transfers Information page.
How much does an FFL transfer cost at Gallenson’s?
$30 per serialized firearm. NFA items (suppressors, SBRs) are $125 per serialized item — unless they come through Silencer Shop, which we receive and process at no charge.
Do I pay the NFA transfer fee before or after my Form 4?
Before. The $125 fee is due before any Form 4 paperwork begins.
When can I pick up my transfer?
Please give us 24 hours from the time your item is delivered to the shop. We’ll text or email you the moment it’s ready — no need to call.
How do I send your FFL to another dealer?
Have the sending dealer email [email protected]. We provide our FFL/SOT to licensed FFL holders only, no exceptions.
Can I ship a gun I bought online to Gallenson’s?
Yes — that’s exactly what this service is. Have the retailer or seller’s FFL send a copy of their license to [email protected] and ship to us; we handle the background check and paperwork at pickup.
Do you accept transfers from any online retailer?
Yes, from any licensed dealer. For NFA items, Silencer Shop is the only online retailer we process free of charge; all other NFA sources are $125 per item.
What do I need to bring to pick up my transfer?
A valid government-issued ID. Utah residents complete the standard background check at the counter at pickup. Federal law applies: you must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to purchase or pick up a firearm. Persons in the U.S. on a nonimmigrant visa — including foreign exchange students — cannot buy or pick up a firearm, and we will not sell or transfer a firearm in that situation. No exceptions.
Can someone else pick up my transfer for me?
No. The name the serialized item comes in under MUST be the person who picks it up — not a family member or friend. If the recipient needs to change, the sending FFL must confirm and verify in writing who is picking up the firearm. We cannot take a customer’s word for it, no exceptions.
I’m military stationed here on PCS orders — can I buy or pick up a gun?
Yes. Active-duty service members stationed in Utah on PCS (Permanent Change of Station) orders are treated as Utah residents for firearm purchases. Bring your PCS orders with you along with your government-issued ID — we cannot complete the sale or transfer without seeing your orders.
Where is Gallenson’s located and when are you open?
166 E 200 S in downtown Salt Lake City, UT 84111. Open Monday–Saturday, 9am–6pm. Questions? Text or call 801-769-6969.
Do you sell suppressors in store?
Yes — we’re a Silencer Shop kiosk dealer. See our Suppressors in Utah page for how it works. Browse and buy suppressors in store or online, and with the NFA tax stamp at $0 as of January 1, 2026, there’s never been a cheaper time to start a Form 4.
